ABOUT SHOW
Echoes of Fragments is a choreographic work exploring transience as a fundamental principle of all existence. It is rooted in the belief that everything that exists is constantly in a state of transformation, leaving, and letting go. The present moment is fragile and elusive, continuously breaking into fragments of past and future, whose echoes and afterimages are the only things that remain.
Five dancers move through the choreography in a continuous flow of change. Their bodies respond to the instability of relationships, the present moment, and inner states that emerge, dissolve, and transform again. The movement material oscillates between flow and stillness, between a figurative play with time, the attempt to grasp the present moment, and the necessity of letting it go. Individual situations, movements, and relationships continuously fall apart and reassemble without ever reaching a definitive form. What remains are their echoes and traces, shifting through time and in the memory of the viewer.
A key scenic element is a pendulum suspended above the dancers’ heads, constantly present as a multivalent element that measures space and the time of the inner rhythm of the action.
Echoes of Fragments is an open space for encountering what is, what disappears, and the echoes that remain after it has passed.
ABOUT AUTHOR
Anna Kubalíková
I am a contemporary dance student at the Duncan Centre Conservatory, where I am currently in my final, sixth year of study. During my studies, I have had the opportunity to work within workshops and creative processes with choreographers and dancers such as Lali Ayguadé, Simone Sandroni, Nataša Novotná, and Michael Langeneckert. Alongside my studies, I participate in workshops and creative encounters, including in international contexts. I am currently completing a study residency at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen.
