ABOUT CONCEPT
The Discussion & Brunch format, part of the Dance & Youth 2026 section, offers an open space for sharing experiences, approaches, and inspiration in the field of contemporary dance for children and young people. The meeting brings together artists, educators, producers, and other experts, raising questions about how high-quality dance projects for young audiences are created today and what forms of working with children are currently proving to be meaningful and effective.
The discussion is based on specific projects presented at the Czech Dance Platform, Lysistrata Reloaded, Childhood Time, and Same Old Story, which represent various approaches ranging from interactive formats to authorial statements. An important part will also be sharing experiences from the Dance for Schools project, which has long been developing children’s relationship to movement and dance through workshops and educational activities.
The meeting will focus not only on the performances themselves, but also on the broader context of working with young audiences – how to communicate with them through movement, what educational opportunities exist in the field of contemporary dance, and how to build a long-term relationship between young audiences and the arts.
