During the pandemic and creative meetings conducted remotely, choreographers Tereza Ondrová and Silvia Gribaudi asked various questions: What would life look like if we saw it from an insect's perspective? Can another living creature inspire us so much that we change our own lives? How can we alter the anthropocentric view of the world? They were looking for answers through the use of their bodies. Similar questions were already explored by Sara Michieletto and Elisabetta Zavoli, whose concept forms the basis of the project INSECTUM in...

 

The performance was selected by the Dramaturgical Council for the program of the Czech Dance Platform 2023.
The availability of the artists does not allow this production to be presented during the three-day program of the platform, but we recommend to prolong your stay in Prague.

 


Tereza Ondrová is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. She studied dance pedagogy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. In 2004 she co-founded the dance company VerTeDance, with whom she has created more than 25 pieces. Since 2012 she has been collaborating with Peter Šavel. Together they created the duet Boys who Like to Play with Dolls, which was awarded the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award (2015), Dance Piece of the Year and Dancer of the Year 2014 in the Czech Republic, nominated for a Total Theatre Award and selected for Priority Companies 2014 by Aerowaves, and As Long as Holding Hands (2015). Since 2016 she has been working with director Petra Tejnorová (You Are Here, 2016; Nothing Sad, 2017; LET'S DANCE!, 2017; Hello, Is Anyone Out There?, 2017; SAME SAME, 2018; Duets, 2019; SILENT, 2021; Call Alice, 2021). As a dancer and performer, she has collaborated with choreographers such as Charlotta Öfverholm, Karine Ponties, David Zambrano and Anton Ľahký. She is also a teacher. Between 2018 and 2021 she was part of the EU project Dancing Museums, in collaboration with Tanec Praha (CZ) and the Prague City Gallery (CZ). 

 

Silvia Gribaudi is an Italian choreographer and performer. Since 2004 she has focused her research on the social impact of bodies, having set at the centre of her choreographic language the comic element and the relationship between audience and performers. She won the Premio Giovane Danza D’Autore award with her piece A CORPO LIBERO (2009) and was a finalist at the Premio UBU for best dance show and a finalist at the Premio Rete Critica award with R.OSA (2017). In 2021, she created MONJOUR, produced by the Torinodanza Festival in collaboration with Teatro Stabile del Veneto and Les Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels. In 2021, the TANEC PRAHA Festival presented her performance GRACES, which won the Danza&Danza award and was named the best Italian production of 2019. She received support from the Big Pulse Dance Alliance project co-financed by the EU Creative Europe program for the project Grand Jeté, which will have its world premiere in June 2023 at the PONEC Theatre as part of the international TANEC PRAHA 2023 festival.
