This project is financially supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the City of Brno and the City of Prague. The staging of the dance performance was supported from public resources in the form of a scholarship by the Slovak Arts Council.
Our Earth is full of worlds within worlds. Each of these microworlds lives its own unique life. Through micro-movements, body landscape and a play with small objects the performance focuses our attention on little things that are often overlooked in plain sight. The playful and poetic performance explores the fragility of our existence.
The creative team includes established artists from Czechia and Slovakia in the fields of contemporary dance, visual arts, puppet theatre and music, all of whom have extensive experience in creative work with children. Microworlds thus offers children and adult viewers an open and creative space in which everyone and everything is an important and necessary part and has their own unique potential that can develop and therefore create together with other common microworlds. The production also focuses children's attention on the small things and details around them, which refines their perception, trains their attentiveness and concentration, and teaches them to play with a minimum of resources.
Movement and object-based performance for everyone ages four and up
Jazmína Piktorová is a choreographer, performer and teacher. Her work consists of connecting physical theatre with dance, acting and lyrical clowning. She is interested in the intersection of dance and movement education with creation for children, emphasizing long-term and in-depth research. Together with dancer Sabina Bočková, she created the movement-object performance Microworlds for everyone ages four and up. During her engagement at the Drak Theatre, she co-created a devised dance performance for children called And Land Underfoot, which she successfully stages at home and abroad. She teaches as part of the Dance for Schools artistic and educational project produced by Tanec Praha.
Sabina Bočková is a choreographer and dancer, who decided to work as a freelance artist after her studies of classical ballet, modern dance and three-year engagement in ballet companies. She creates her own original works together with Johana Pocková in the POCKETART collective. Their works are part of Aerowaves, the Czech Dance Platform and the European projects Big Pulse Dance Alliance and Shape It!. Alongside her own work she is a long-term collaborator with the independent groups Tantehorse and tYhle as well as with choreographer Marie Gourdian, Cirk La Putyka and others. Fascinated by simple and obvious body languages, she transforms movement through choreographic structures while at the same time addressing topics and themes that echo social and cultural issues.
